The map
How to read it
- Line colour shows where a route goes: navy within Laos, green to Vietnam, teal to Thailand, brown to Cambodia.
- Dashed lines are routes that run but are not sold online: buy the ticket at the bus station.
- The red line is the Laos–China Railway, with its main stations. It continues north to Kunming.
- Numbered circles are the international border crossings, listed below with a link to each guide.
- Lines show which border a route uses, not the exact road it follows.
The border crossings on the map

Common questions
Is there a map of bus routes in Laos?
Yes, this one. It shows every bus and train route we track inside Laos and across its borders, with the crossing each one uses. Routes you cannot book online are dashed, and every route is listed with times and fares on our routes page.
How many border crossings does Laos have with its neighbours?
Eighteen international road and rail crossings carry travellers: six with Thailand, nine with Vietnam, one with Cambodia and two with China at Boten. All are on the map. The full official register, airports included, is on our checkpoint page.
